Google translator - solution for language question or maybe not ?
There has been interesting discussion about what is the right language used in network/platform like sombiz. Maybe in the future we can forget this kind of question.
Google translation service understand now also finnish. The translation result is far away from the perfect text. But if I just need to get idea about for example Chinese web page or if someone who don't understand finnish need to understand my finnish -blog article, google translation service is working quite well.
As an example the translation of my finnish blog page (http://timorainio.blogspot.com) looks like this

For the social media stuff automatic translation can work well. Users are often willing to correct the language after it is published in true "beta-spirit", if they are provided with the tools to do the work.
For sombiz.net we are considering to create also a Finnish section. For example for blog feeds it could be a nice collector. We'll see...

Hei, that is not bad at all in the grand scheme of translation services (at least from Finnish-English). As you said Timo, the result requires a bit of refining but it's gonna be nice to play with I think! Interesting...!
