I'm experimenting a new way of making a fool out of myself, blogging online.I came to Amsterdam for the PICNINC '07 yesterday. I have to say that I just love the City. It has such laid-back attitude and nice atmosphere than not even the cold, rainy weather can make me sullen. We, me and three of my colleagues, have been taking part in the Media Labs get together that began yesterday and lasted untill noon today.

As my vague notes may have revealed, I was moved by the presentation of Alexander Manu in the service design afternoon on wednesday. Moved to the point that the final collage of pictures and music of war and then about people and love brought tears to my eyes - like to almost all other eyes present whether they confessed it or not. Anyway, all good presentations yield one thought that stays lingering in your mind a while after the event. For me it was...

Now, first of all this is not at all about PVRs, but I have to adjust my public statement to the digitalisation of television.

First of all I am not at all happy wth my previous post. I know all this stuff and there was very little point in the post. the matter is much more complicated, but as it is, I will not go deeper into that now.

One of the main points supporting the digital television has been that people are given the possibility to decide when and where they watch television. Technically digitalisation has nothing to do with PVRs replacing VHS, but the change has been easy to put under the digitalisation label. From my own experience this is not that simple. I have had a mac mini -based PVR for about two years, and I have used it very seldom to the high-end purposes. It is very handy to recpord and edit shows, but that's about it. Until recently I have been watching the same shows from TV week after week.

It has been a while since the last post and yada yada yaa... I got afraid, because someone told me that he/she had read my writings. I decided to hold radio silence until my single fan would have lost interest in my nonsense. Now I can again concentrate in writing to myself.I don't remember anything about February since I had a gazillion duties pending for the EU-project I have been working for the last two years. Now it has officially ended and all reporting should be ok. May them rest in peace.

I flew to Berlin last week. In the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport I got caught by the security personnel. I tried to smuggle a 150 ml tube of hairgele into the plane. Bad, bad me. I was told to put my deodorant and toothpaste into a small plastic bag and to put my huge tube of hairgele to the luggage.
