The number of Internet users has more than doubled since the year 2000, and in 2007 there were over 1.1 billion people online worldwide.

Yesterday Finnish online entertainment company Sulake arranged an event focusing on "harnessing youth to act as brand ambassadors". The evening was kicked off by Mr.

There is an ongoing boom of European countries grouping their social media startups and taking them to San Francisco with plans to dig(g) gold. Delegations from Israel (which can be considered Europe based on their presence in the Eurovision song contest), UK and Spain have recently or will tour the Bay area with their best rosters. The Finnish strike team is arriving in San Francisco in three days.

I visited Pixelache University ´08 on Saturday at Kiasma (Helsinki Finland). It was nice to see a lot of buzz and people at the sessions.

I'm experimenting a new way of making a fool out of myself, blogging online.I came to Amsterdam for the PICNINC '07 yesterday. I have to say that I just love the City. It has such laid-back attitude and nice atmosphere than not even the cold, rainy weather can make me sullen. We, me and three of my colleagues, have been taking part in the Media Labs get together that began yesterday and lasted untill noon today.

As my vague notes may have revealed, I was moved by the presentation of Alexander Manu in the service design afternoon on wednesday. Moved to the point that the final collage of pictures and music of war and then about people and love brought tears to my eyes - like to almost all other eyes present whether they confessed it or not. Anyway, all good presentations yield one thought that stays lingering in your mind a while after the event. For me it was...

Now, first of all this is not at all about PVRs, but I have to adjust my public statement to the digitalisation of television.

First of all I am not at all happy wth my previous post. I know all this stuff and there was very little point in the post. the matter is much more complicated, but as it is, I will not go deeper into that now.

One of the main points supporting the digital television has been that people are given the possibility to decide when and where they watch television. Technically digitalisation has nothing to do with PVRs replacing VHS, but the change has been easy to put under the digitalisation label. From my own experience this is not that simple. I have had a mac mini -based PVR for about two years, and I have used it very seldom to the high-end purposes. It is very handy to recpord and edit shows, but that's about it. Until recently I have been watching the same shows from TV week after week.

I bought a record of a leading female Finnish rock artist recently. It costed 20 € it being in discount already after some three days in the stores. I was not really expecting anything but the record and I was very pleased to find a dvd in th box in addition to the cd. The dvd contained 7 music videos, extensive interviews and all that kind of stuff. It was not a dvd that I would have bought individually, but being a bonus to a record it was just swell. In my opinion most people have four options if they want to get a particular record.
